Students at MHS in Mrs. Land's Sports & Entertainment Marketing class created a new nacho tray for a stadium. They developed surveys as market research, analyzed data collected to create the new menu item and designed two social media ads featuring their nachos. The winning nachos were Buenos Nachos, a breakfast nacho using mini waffles, Waffling Buffalo Nachos, buffalo chicken on waffle fries, and Totchos, a breakfast nacho using tater tots. Needless to say, everyone left very hungry! #MHSTheHighSchoolOfChoice
What a game! Our LCL & LIFE basketball team pulled off a nail biter win against Triad in an intense matchup! Huge shoutout to Triad for an incredible game and great sportsmanship. After the buzzer, both teams celebrated with a well-earned pizza party— a great reminder that it’s all about community and fun.

MHS Future Business Leaders of America competed at the State Conference in Springfield, IL. They had 54 members compete in events ranging from Accounting, Cybersecurity, Broadcast Journalism and Sports & Entertainment Marketing. Twenty-six students placed in the Top 10. Of those, 5 students, Taylor Cahill, Cameron Doyle, Lilah Fanous, Marissa Kjellsen, and Logan Zurbrugg placed in the Top 4, qualifying for Nationals in Anaheim, CA, this summer. Congrats to our MHS 2025-2026 Illinois State Scholars! The combination of students' exemplary college entrance exam scores and record high school achievement indicate an especially high potential for success in college. The Illinois State Scholar Program is awarded to high school seniors based on ACT or SAT test scores, the sixth semester class size, unweighted class rank and GPA. MHS LCL and LIFE had a great Friday afternoon working collaboratively in teams to complete a scavenger hunt all over the school. It included a book balancing contest, telling jokes, completing math problems, identifying road signs and so much more. Mrs. Ladwig and Ms. Dibadj took their Algebra 1 class to the gym to use stomp rockets and explore the unique properties of quadratic functions and gravity to determine the speed at which the rockets were launched and the heights they reached. #MHSTheHighSchoolOfChoice

The exhibition will run through March 18-27, 2025. The closing reception will take place on March 27th in the Art and Design West Gallery. Congratulations to the MHS Model UN Team who represented Germany, Guyana, and Iran at the McKendree University Model UN Conference on March 4-6. From the electrifying energy of soul and funk to the powerful stories of resilience and change, we celebrated the impact of Black Americans who have shaped our history, culture, and music. Just like Soul Train brought people together through rhythm and unity, we honored a legacy that continues to inspire us all.
