Dressing for Winter…

With the coming of colder temperatures, it is important for students to wear the proper clothing to keep warm.  We will be holding outdoor recess everyday unless it is raining or the wind chill temperature is below 20 degrees.  We will not be going outside if there is snow on the ground.

Snow Day or Late Starts

In the event of a winter storm coming to this area we have made preparations for calling off school.  The District Superintendent, Dr Fiegel, makes the determination if school is cancelled due to the weather.  Everyday we cancel in the winter is another day we have to make up in the spring.

Christmas Vacation

Students will be dismissed for Christmas vacation at 11:50 AM on Friday, December 18th.  Second semester will begin on Monday, January 4th.  We hope all families have a safe and restful holiday vacation.  We look forward to seeing everyone in the new year.  If your family will be missing school days due to travel, please let the office know in writing at least 7 days prior.  If we do not have prior notice the absences will be unexcused. Pre-approved absence form is available on the school website.

Wake up Calls

Thank you parents for calling the office to inform us if your child will be absent or late on any given morning.  The school is required to call parents if students are not present.  We appreciate the support you give us when you call this information in.  If we are unable to contact a parent the absence will be recorded as an unexcused absence.

Sometimes It Is OK to Not Share

Please remember it is important to quarantine if a student or family member is showing symptoms.  Many of the symptoms seem like the common cold, but it could be more serious.  We do not want to risk it being spread to others.  If students are found to be sick at school they will be sent home.

School Report Cards

The School Report Card for 2019 is available on line at  Our School was rated as Exemplary for the third year in a row.  That rating means Wingate scored in the top 10% of Elementary school in the State of Illinois. The partnership between the staff and parents is an important contributor to your child's success.  Working together we can help your child reach their dreams.

Talent Show

This year’s talent show will be done virtually.  4th and 5th grade students can audition for the show.  We will record the acts separately performing on our stage.  All of the recordings will be spliced together to make the final show.  We are planning to air the video on Friday, December 11th.  Auditions will be held December 1st through 3rd.
