Wingate June Newsletter
Well the end of the school year is upon us, but it does not feel right. Summer is here, and we are preparing for the beginning of school in the fall. At this time I do not know what that will look like. I can only pray that things are able to return to normal. Our time in remote learning this spring was an important step. I would like to thank all parents, students, and teachers for all the work you put in to help the students grow. We are currently making plans to service all students' needs when they return in the fall. We want to ensure students reach their full potential. I have a few informational items and dates to share with you.
Enjoy your summer and stay safe.
We are currently registering kindergarten students for the 2020-2021 school year. Registration can be accessed at the building website: wes.msd19.org.
New students to the district will be able to start registering on June 1, 2020. A link will be posted on the school website: wes.msd19.org.
Updated Physical and Immunization Information
School Board Policy 7:100 requires parents provide new and updated physical and/or immunization forms by the first day of school for PreK, Kindergarten, 6th, 9th, and 12th grade students. For the 2020-2021 school year, families are encouraged to meet these requirements as best they can. If these requirements cannot be met as we recover from the restrictions due to COVID-19, we will work with families by extending the deadline and not imposing exclusion from school until October 15. I am attaching a link to the health forms in case you would need it. Just a reminder, kindergarten and 2nd graders will need to have a dental exam on file next year. If you have a visit scheduled this summer, take the form and complete the requirement.
We have been in contact with Lifetouch, and they have experienced closures in their factories. The yearbooks will be coming, but we have no date yet on when they will arrive. There is a possibility they will be mailed directly to your home. Typically the school receives a few extras to sell. I will notify families when and if they arrive.
We are working with 1st Day School Supplies to set up a way for parents to shop for school supplies from home. Other schools in the District are using this company and have experienced success. I am not typically a fan of this program but, given the circumstances, I believe this is a good idea. I will let you know when the account is set up and ready to receive orders. They will ship the order directly to your house.
We will be having early release times every Wednesday next school year. Students will be dismissed at 2:30pm every Wednesday throughout the year. Extended Time will be available on Wednesdays starting at 2:30pm.
I wanted to give a special thank you to our PTO for purchasing every student a shirt this year.
