Spring Pictures

On Wednesday, March 4th, Lifetouch will be here to take spring pictures of students. These photos are not used in the yearbook. They are strictly an opportunity for parents to have a picture taken. If you would like your child’s photo taken, you must go to to register your child. Our picture day ID is EVTPPDSMV. Only those students registered will be photographed.

Kindergarten Registration (SUSPENDED)

If your child is turning 5 years old on or before September 1st, it’s time to register for kindergarten. Please join us for registration on Wednesday, April 1, from 8:30am until 5:00pm at the District Office in Mascoutah. All students living in the Mascoutah School District boundaries will register there. Prior to registration, starting March 1st parents can go online to pre-register their child as this will make the process quicker and easier. Visit our District website's Kindergarten Registration page to begin this process.

Registration Requirements:

1) Original, certified birth certificate

2) A state or military photo ID of the registering  parent or legal guardian.

This event is an essential part of our planning process for next year and your attendance on this day is very important to us.  If this date does not work with your schedule, please call the school office to make other arrangements. At this time students will be assigned a time slot for the Kindergarten screening that occurs on Monday, May 4th. Monday, May 4th is a non attendance day for all current kindergarten students.

3rd, 4th and 5th graders will take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness, IAR, test. We are scheduled to start on March 25th and we will be done on April 16th. Students will not test on Mondays and Friday except for makeup exams. We will be having one test a day. This year we are a pilot school so we will be taking an extra test.

Please avoid scheduling appointments during these days. Fifth grade will also be taking the Illinois Science Exam April 16th and 23rd.

County Wide Storm Drill

March 3rd is the St Clair County Tornado Drill. Students have been taught to shelter in halls or areas with small ceilings. We will be having the drill at 10:00 am.

Family Fine Arts Night

March 12th is our Fine Arts Night. Mrs Gutierrez and Mrs Lovell have worked hard to plan fun activities related to art, music, drama, and physical education. Fifth grade students will perform a play at the beginning of the night. The 5th grade band will perform intermittently in the foyer. The activities will be from 6:00-7:30.

Birthday Treats

If you wish to send in treats or goodie bags for your child’s birthday, please make arrangements with your child’s teacher prior to delivery. When sending treats, please ONLY send individually wrapped store bought items with a nutrition label. We cannot accept homemade or store bought cupcakes or cakes. For more information see the MCUSD Handbook for Parents.

From the Nurse

All current Kindergarten, 2nd, 6th and 9th grade students are required to submit a completed State of Illinois Dental Exam Form no later than May 15, 2020. If you have any questions please call the school nurse.

Calendar Change

Because of the snow days the district used so far this school year, the last day of school is now Tuesday, May 26th. That date could change if we have another snow day.

School Physicals

A school physical, including proof of immunizations, is required for all students entering Pre-kindergarten, Kindergarten, 6th and 9th grades. Students in grades 6 and 12 must show proof of immunization against meningococcal disease. Previously enrolled students entering Pre-K, Kindergarten, 6th, 9th and 12th grades and new Kindergarten students must meet the above requirements on the first day of school. Failure to provide a school physical with proof of immunizations will result in exclusion from school until the appropriate health records are provided. Parents are encouraged to schedule an appointment as soon as possible to assure that physicals and immunizations are completed prior to the start of the 2020-2021 school year.
