Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades will take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) test March 18th through April 8th.  We are a pilot school so we will have an extra day of testing. We will be using Mondays and Fridays for make-up tests.  Please try to schedule appointments accordingly.

Thank You So Much

December was a month of many activities at school. Our thanks goes out to all who helped with concerts, plays, parties, or projects.  We could not have done it without you. December’s word of the month was service. We had a number of charity drives that classes and the school were doing.  The school wide food drive for the food pantry brought in over 468 items. They were delivered on December 18th to ensure families would have access during the holidays.  Each grade level adopted a family to help brighten their holiday. Six families had a few more gifts for their children on Christmas morning. We are blessed to be part of such a caring and generous community.

Word of the Month - Empathy - Understanding the feelings of someone else.  Put yourself in their shoes.

'Tis the Season for Cough and Colds

Deciding when a child is too sick to go to school can be difficult.  The following guidelines will be helpful in making your decision.

Your child must be kept  home if he/she has any of the following symptoms:

  • A fever of 100º or greater
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • A cold with persistent heavy nasal discharge
  • Flu-like symptoms; aches, chills, tiredness, cough, sore throat and fever
  • A persistent uncontrollable cough
  • A painful sore throat or sore throat lasting longer than 24-48 hours
  • An unidentified rash

Just does not feel well

Your child should be free of symptoms for 24 hours, without medication before returning to school.  Help us control the spread of disease at school and keep sick children home.

Please do not send students to school to be diagnosed by the nurse. Do not administer medication in the morning to lower abnormal temperatures so that they may attend school.

If you have any questions, call Nurse Douglas at 746-4802.

Inclement Weather

In the event that we ever have snow or ice, there is a possibility that school will be canceled or delayed one hour.  We will notify you via phone message and the notice will be broadcast by the following St Louis Area TV stations:  FOX Channel 2, CBS Channel 4, NBC Channel 5, and ABC Channel 30.  The notice will be posted on our district website, facebook and twitter account.

Winter Wonderland Dance

The PTO is hosting a dance for students who attend Wingate Elementary on Friday the 24th from 6:30 to 8:30.

Transportation Changes

Transportation changes can only be made in writing with the parent or legal guardian’s signature included.  The only exceptions would be emergency situations.

Please do not make any changes via email. Staff members may not see the email in time to ensure the safety of your child.
